Journey Person Wage Rate: $46.14/hour
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week
Work Setting: Marine
Point Hope Maritime (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Journey Person Welder in Victoria, British Columbia.

Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
2. Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
3. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
4. Weld quality must pass visual, magnetic particle, ultrasonic & X-ray inspection methods
5. Safely operate power tools such as angle grinders, band saws, friction saws & belt sanders
6. Other duties within scope of the position, as assigned
Education and Experience:
1. Must hold a Journeyman’s certificate, or have Red Seal in welding
2. Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
3. Ability to communicate, read, and understand/follow directions in English
4. Willingness to participate in regular training programs and courses
Knowledge and Skills:
1. W.B. Welding Certification
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
3. Ability to set goals and manage multiple projects and initiatives
4. Ability to set, commit to and meet deadlines
5. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing business needs
6. Mature, professional and optimistic attitude
7. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
8. Be able to weld in multiple processes (SMAW, FCAW/MCAW, GMAW & GTAW)
9. Be able to perform CAC (Carbon Arc Cutting (gouging))
10. Understand the basic premises of distortion control & weld sequencing.
11. Understand the need / requirement for the pre-heating & post heating of weld joints
12. Understand how to measure and interpret drawing in both standards of measurements (imperial & metric)
Requirements:
1. Must be able to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical & overhead)
2. Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and/or sit for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders and work from elevation, and walk on varied terrain
3. Regularly perform repetitive tasks
4. Ability to work within confined spaces
5. Possess manual dexterity
Work Conditions:
1. Travel to off-site locations may be required
2. Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.
3. Overtime as required
4. Hazards associated with the trade
5. Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
