What will I be doing?
Working with the 3D Inspection (Metrology) team, Quality and Manufacturing Engineers, ensure effective & efficient processes are put in place for ICY and other geometric inspection of products manufactured on site, and coming in from the supply chain, employing automated solutions where suitable and cost effective.
- Working with the 3D Inspection (Metrology) team, Quality and Manufacturing Engineers, ensure correct datum systems and tolerances are used during the process and that these are reflected in the reports produced.
- Ensure that reported data is readily available and stored in the OneSPC system.
- Ensure that the most appropriate software is used and this is kept up to date on all equipment.
- Working with the 3D Inspection (Metrology) team, and Tooling Metrology Engineers, ensure that a common approach is taken for inspection of both product and the tools that support the manufacturing process, so that a common thread can be followed for problem solving.
- Drive SPC (Statistical Process Control) implementation onto SNA products by introducing CP/Cpk, Control Charts, etc. to track process performance and stop at first defect.
- Working with the Manufacturing Engineers, periodically appraise the inspection requirements for each product taking into account any design changes and removal of unnecessary inspection where process capability has been proven.
- Support the business on all automated and digital metrology processes and equipment.
- Act as referent to Manufacturing Engineers on metrology equipment and techniques.
- Drive a lean & continuous improvement mind-set through the Automated Metrology process, ensuring that this NNVA (Necessary Non Value Added) process is lean and effective.
- Visit trade shows and suppliers to ensure that - Safran is aware of the new and emerging Metrology equipment and techniques.
- Keep regular contact with counterparts within SNA and wider Safran group, to ensure an aligned approach is taken and any differences are understood and agreed.

- Good level of knowledge on automation using structured language coding (macros).
