About the role:

Moonshot is currently collecting applications for an Arabic speaking Analyst as part of a new programme of work. The position nor project is currently confirmed, but we anticipate receiving clarification and will update the JD and individuals accordingly. In this role, you will support the design and implementation of individualised programs aiming to reach individuals at-risk of online harms - primarily violent extremism but also including other areas of risk such as gender-based violence and disinformation. With oversight, you will support the design, implementation and maintenance of cross-platform pathways connecting at-risk individuals with intervention providers. You will also be expected to work to advance our research methodologies and support our clients’ understanding of online harms.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the design, delivery and maintenance of online outreach campaigns.
* Identification, collection and analysis of information from a range of data sources, including social media, violent extremist materials and other data sources covered by our in-house tools.
* Designing quantitative and qualitative research methods to collect and analyse large datasets.
* Drafting analytical reports and presenting findings verbally to clients, partner organisations and key stakeholders.
* Working to demanding, high-tempo reporting schedules for clients.
* Developing and sharing subject matter expertise related to violent extremism and online harms across the organisation.
* Supporting our business development by identifying and applying for funding opportunities, building relationships with clients and partner organisations.
* Translating Arabic text into English.
* Developing and sharing subject matter expertise related to violent extremism and online harms across the organisation.
* Building relationships with clients, and supporting our business development by exploring and identifying opportunities for new projects of work that will be of interest to them.
Requirements
Essential:
* Fluent in reading and written Arabic text, including the ability to translate material.
* Experience in supporting digital communications campaigns, and ideally across one or more of the following topics: social media analysis, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, interventions.
* Professional or research experience in countering violent extremism and/or other online harms.
* Professional or research experience of carrying out analysis and investigations using OSINT techniques.
* Ability to scan large volumes of data and identify the most valuable pieces of information.
* Ability to source, interpret and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data, including social media data, and producing actionable reporting.
* Ability to work under pressure, take action and get things done, both in managing your own workload and working as a part of a team.
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* In addition, we require and will check on candidates' eligibility to work in the UK and DBS checks.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with/understanding of how to fetch data using software platform APIs and scraping tools.
* Qualifications in quantitative methods for social science and specialist quantitative skills, including data visualisation, database management (SQL), Python, Tableau visualisation or other data analysis tool sets.
* Native user, or has a deep understanding of multiple social media platforms.
* Professional or research experience in analysing how the design of social media platforms affects the way content is spread and the user experience.
* Professional experience in open-source research, online investigations, threat risk analysis, public safety, or law enforcement.
