Job Summary
We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our team at Tower Family Healthcare. We are a GP Practice with a multi-skilled clinical team that works across four sites in Bury (in Bury town centre, Greenmount, Tottington, and Radcliffe). We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our experienced and friendly reception team. No two days will be the same in this rewarding, patient-facing role where the postholder will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of duties at our busy general practice.
You will support patients getting in touch by phone and in person at reception, using your care navigation skills to reach the best outcome to meet their needs. Variety is important in any role, and there will be opportunities to get involved in a range of administrative tasks across the working week.

Main duties of the job
The receptionist/admin role at Tower Family Healthcare requires enthusiastic, friendly, positive, professional individuals who enjoy working as part of a team and strive to deliver a high standard of service to patients and the public in an efficient, effective, courteous, and confidential manner. The role is also to provide support to the clinicians (both doctors and nurses) and Branch Manager to meet the requirements of the practice.
Job Responsibilities
1. To receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way either in person, face to face or via the telephone, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
2. Scheduling & cancelling appointments using the Emis system.
3. Reception desk duties. Maintaining a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
4. Answering the telephone in a professional and friendly manner.
5. Ensuring a positive outcome.
6. Accurate message taking and conveying to appropriate person.
7. Filing and accurate record keeping with attention to detail.
8. Following practice policies and office procedures; copy notes, printing GPR, ECG watch, OMRON (Blood Pressure monitors), annual recalls/reviews, health checks, flu recalls, child immunisation appointments.
9. Completing work as per start and end of day checklists.
10. Referral management and liaising with providers.
11. Liaising with other agencies where appropriate such as; local pharmacies, district nurses, midwives, health visitors, care homes, ambulance control, hospitals, etc.
12. Notes summarising & read coding.
13. Computer entry related to patient services and registrations.
14. Use of administration systems and understanding of TQuest.
15. Carrying out duties requested by the GP partners, Senior Manager, and practice team as appropriate to the role.
16. Escalating problems to the branch manager where necessary.
17. Any additional duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

Skills
* Essential: Communication skills (Verbal & Written), Keyboard & Computer skills, Organisational Skills, Attention to detail, Telephone skills, Ability to have a pleasant and articulate manner.
* Desirable: Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, and common sense; Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities; Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the practice team; Able to use own initiative.
Knowledge
* Essential: Know how to deal with people in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner; An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
* Desirable: Knowledge of NHS, GP Practice; Knowledge of Emis Clinical System.

* Desirable: Full UK Driving Licence.
Qualifications
* Essential: Educated to GCSE level standard. Minimum of 5 passes at Grade A-C including English.
* Desirable: ECDL; RSA Typing.
