Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven Occupational Therapist to join our Community Response Service Teams as a Clinical Lead. The service covers a range of teams including, discharge services and community therapy. We are integrated teams working collaboratively with our physiotherapy, nursing and pharmacy colleagues with well established relationships with the local authority and wider organisations.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead is responsible for overseeing the clinical team, ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient care, supporting staff development, and maintaining adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols. The ideal candidate will be a skilled healthcare professional with strong leadership capabilities, clinical expertise, and a passion for enhancing patient outcomes and team performance.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To support the Operational Services Manager and Senior Manager in the planning of Services within Discharge & Intermediate Care Services, taking the lead on specific projects or areas of service development.
2. To develop occupational therapy services across Discharge & Intermediate Care Services.
3. To provide speciality support to the line manager within the local occupational therapy teams, to support the recruitment, appraisal and CPD of the occupational therapy workforce.
4. To maintain a high quality of patient care to meet agreed local and national standards and targets.
5. To support in areas of strategic service planning and development.
6. To provide a link to Trust wide Occupational Therapy Professional Lead and AHP lead within Northumbria Healthcare.
7. To ensure resources are monitored and controlled through robust management in order to provide effective service delivery.
8. To act as the departments representative and promote the department at a Trust and Primary Care Organisational level.
9. To support in the planning and implementation of a recruitment strategy for occupational therapy across Discharge & Intermediate Care Services.
10. The post holder will also maintain a highly complex caseload of patients within a clinical speciality.
11. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Post Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Student clinical supervisor qualification or experience
* Health Professions Council – License to Practice
* Evidence of successful completion of specialist courses up to Master’s degree equivalent
* Extensive portfolio and documented evidence of CPD.
