Located in Stanford-le-Hope 10 hours per week starting at 10am Monday to Friday Early Years Foundation level/Key Stage 1 Needs support in developing communication Requires a caring mentor and tutor who can support with preverbal and early development needs Our pupil is: A cheerful 6-year-old boy with autism and communication difficulties. He has a particular affinity for numbers and thrives in environments where he feels secure and supported. While he has some language skills, especially related to numbers, he struggles to understand the concepts behind those words. He enjoys interacting with people, and has a playful spirit, with favorite activities including sensory play, baby shark, and trampolining. He loves routine and engages best in a familiar environment. As he awaits a school placement, it’s essential for him to receive tailored educational support to keep him engaged and motivated. His strengths lie in his joyful nature and sociable personality, making him a delightful child to work with. A tutor with knowledge of autism will be best suited to help him thrive. His ideal tutor will be a skilled early years or primary autism teacher who can implement strategies such as now and next boards, PECS, sensory learning, and visual timetables to enhance his communication and early learning skills. This role will involve working with the young person on a 1 to 1 basis, providing child-centred support focussed on engaging them and nurturing their wellbeing. It will involve travelling to the placement, supporting them, and writing a brief report to record your hours.
