We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified & dynamic individual to take up the post of Sexual Safety Lead within the forensic directorate. The post holder must be an independent sexual advisor and have experience of supporting victims of sexual violence. This role will require supporting staff and service users across both our low secure and medium secure services. The post holder will be expected to work with multi disciplinary teams to provide support and guidance for victims in line with legal frameworks.
The role will include supporting and providing leadership on the NHS sexual safety charter. Within this work the expectation will be to work with colleagues around development of policy and implementation of this. In this role you will also require knowledge of relational security, trauma informed care and reducing restrictive practice initiatives. The role will provide support for staff and service users who experience sexual violence in a trauma informed way. The post hold will have an oversight of sexual violence data and interpret analyse data within governance structures and meetings to improve outcomes for staff and service users providing sexual safety awareness.
The post holder will inform and support the forensic directorate in policy and guidance around sexual safety. The post holder will be able to provide guidance on how to reduce risk or minimize harm to victims. They will produce a rolling programme of training for staff on sexual safety for awareness and victim support.

The role provides guidance and support to victims and helps access other support services/external agencies. This could be reporting to the police, accessing sexual assessment referral centre's and specialist support such as sexual violence counselling.
The post will have sound knowledge of safeguarding and be able to co-work with social work leads in relation to sexual violence incidents and ensuring the safety of the victim. They provide information, advice and resources to other health care professionals who may be involved in the care of people who have experienced sexual violence.
The role will include providing training for staff across forensics. This includes providing guidance for staff on basic sexual violence awareness but how to also support and manage incidents of sexual violence and respond accordingly to provide support for staff and service users.
The post holder is expected to work within the professional guidance set by the home office independent sexual violence advisor guidelines and professional ISVA guidance at all times.
The role will include providing emotional and practical support to victims to engage with the criminal justice system if they choose. They are trained to understand the law around sexual offences and the evidential processes in order to support victims regarding the criminal justice system.
