Description
The post holder will be expected to lead the current psychology team consisting of a CBT therapist, psychotherapist, art psychotherapist and assistant psychologists. The post holder will contribute to the on-going development of the service, and provide clinical expertise with collaboration to the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist clinical psychology input to the unit, which will include individual assessment, formulation, intervention and supervision/consultation.
The post holder will pragmatically draw on a full range of clinical psychology theories to aid assessment and intervention approaches as relevant to this client group. The post holder will have the opportunity for clinical supervision and team reflection. They will also play an active role in research, audit and publications.
Principle Duties
Key Accountabilities
Clinical
1. Carry an individual caseload, providing appropriate psychological assessment and evidence-based therapy
2. Manage this caseload including formulating, planning, risk assessment and evaluating interventions
3. Contribute to the delivery and management of the psychological groups programme including facilitation/supervision
4. Assist in the development of the team’s psychological formulation and therapeutic skills
5. Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, clinical and management supervision and training as appropriate
6. Participate in a programme of continuing professional development and annual appraisal
7. To consult with colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team on psychological aspects of clients’ assessments and therapy plans
8. To attend MDT meetings and CPA reviews
9. To attend and engage with team supervision and development activities
10. To participate in other meetings or committees as necessary
11. Involves and engages users of the service and others in discussions about service direction, improvements and the values on which they are based
12. Actively creates opportunities to enable everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice
13. Works with others to make sure there is a clear direction for values, strategies and policies and leads the way when interests are in conflic
14. Evaluates the quality of own and others’ work and raises quality issues and related risks with the appropriate people
Support
15. Assist in the development of the team’s psychological formulation and therapeutic skills
16. Support other members of the team, providing consultancy, supervision and training as appropriat
17. To contribute to the training and supervision of Assistant Psychologists, and other members of the MDT
18. To provide teaching and training sessions on psychological assessment, formulation and intervention and other key psychological theories and models to colleague groups and teams
19. Liaise with community services, social care and other agencies as necessary
Professional
20. Maintain registration with the HCPC
21. Participate in appraisal and mandatory training
22. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD)
23. Remain up to date with current knowledge and practice
24. Act at all times within the regulations and recommendations of the HCPC

30. Report any untoward incidents in line with Schoen Clinic, Newbridge House policy and procedures
31. Obtain regular clinical supervision from an accredited supervisor
Administrative
32. To record client contacts and assessments according to relevant policies, using computerised system
33. To keep other notes and records as may be necessary to clinical psychology professional practice, using paper and/or computer systems
34. To provide written reports on psychological assessments, formulation, therapeutic progress and outcomes for colleagues and referrers
Schoen Clinic Newbridge is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and has achieved a rating of outstanding during its past two inspections in 2016 and 2018.
It is one of a very small number of services rated as outstanding. Only 2.7% of mental health services inspected by the CQC achieved this.
