Description The Role We are looking for exceptional hands-on Engineering Manager to join our newly formed teams incubating and scaling disruptive AI/ML InsureTech products working in Lean methodology with Design Thinking at its core. You will build a core team composed of Software Engineers, SREs, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and UX Designers, and lead them in implementing robust and scalable InsureTech applications. You'll lead teams in reflecting on what went well and what we could have done better, and then turning those reflections into learning activities. You will be proud of the solutions you and your team come up with. You will actively promote collaborative ways of working in a cross-functional product team. As an Engineering Manager, you will join a substantial global engineering organization and provide strategic leadership for your Product Family. You will have experience as an Engineering Manager or equivalent engineering leadership role and have started your career as a Software Engineer or a Machine Learning Engineer working across a wide range of technologies to deliver complex commercial applications, ideally on cloud. You will have subsequently progressed into architectural and design focused positions and demonstrated technical leadership and experience in successfully delivering increasingly complex products and solutions whilst working with a large team of stakeholders. You will have a successful track record of guiding and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams, squads and product families of software professionals including engineers, testers, and development managers in terms of systems design and architectural best practice. A sound technical background is essential to be successful in this role however this opportunity will also encompass management dimensions such as people management, stakeholder management, team engagement, recruitment, as well as continuous process and efficiency improvement. Key to the role is having a strategic bias grounded in solid and deep technical understanding, where you will propose and effectively implement key engineering and technology architectures in partnership with Product Management and other Engineering teams. As an Engineering Manager, you will: Be responsible for leading a diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering team building our ML product offerings Drive technical direction for a convergent SaaS ML platform enabling AI/ML InsureTech Products. Influence and define the technical product vision and feature-level roadmap whilst ensuring the deliverables work according to the requirements and business needs. Work with various Technology Architects to ensure services aspects of the above are adequately covered, and ensure design for easy deployment, operation, and supportability. Champion Lean start-up and Design Thinking within your team and across the organization. Contribute to companywide chapters in relevant areas for your role such as AI, ML, Data Science etc. Participate in internal and external dev events such as hackathons, dev/research conferences and collaborate with our Academic and industry partners worldwide on research and innovation initiatives. Get involved in research in collaboration with academics.
