About us:
The South of England Rare Breeds Centre (RBC) is a busy tourist attraction with more than 130,000 visitors a year. As part of Canterbury Oast Trust, a leading local charity, our shop sells a great range of gifts and local produce to support the work of the Trust in its provision of first class care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex .
The Gift Shop also provides valuable training opportunities for the adults with learning disabilities enabling them to develop their retail and customer service skills.
The Role:
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Gift Shop and Admissions Assistant to help our Operations Manager with the smooth running of the Gift Shop and Farm Admissions. This is a flexi (casual) post and includes working weekends. This position is paying £11.49 per hour, plus a weekend shift allowance of £0.70 per hour. Under 18's will be on £8.60 per hour.
You will be allocated shifts on a monthly basis throughout the year. Additional shifts during the school holidays mainly Easter, Summer and Half Term breaks may also be available. There will also be some bank holiday working as per rota.
The role of Flexi (Casual) Gift Shop and Admissions Assistant involves:
• Dealing with admissions to the RBC
• Processing memberships
• Dealing with the general public
• Preparing the shop for opening and closing
• Dealing with inquiries and answering telephone calls
• Working alongside adults with learning disabilities as they develop their retail skills
• Undertaking duties on behalf of the Operations Manager during her absence
• Handling deliveries of stock
• Car parking duties in busy periods
About You:
The ideal Flexi (Casual) Gift Shop and Admissions Assistant will have:
• some general experience within a similar establishment
• a friendly and engaging personality
• be a good team player
• be flexible and reliable
• be able to use their initiative
• be able to remain calm whilst working in a busy public facing environment
