Place Projects Officer
Maternity cover for up to 15 months
37 hours per week - £34,314 - £37,983 per annum
Wychavon District Council is a great place to work, with high levels of resident satisfaction and motivated staff who enjoy working with us. Located in South Worcestershire, the district boasts a beautiful natural environment, a rich heritage, and plenty to do and see.
We pride ourselves on being a progressive organisation who spends time and energy on what we know matters to our residents and communities – things like creating jobs, keeping the streets clean, helping people feel safe, and preventing homelessness.
Wychavon’s Economic Development team delivers a wide range of business support and economic development services, including town centre and rural regeneration, commercial property investment, tourism, event and skills support. The team plays a crucial role in responding to economic challenges such as Covid, flooding, and large-scale redundancies as well as taking advantage of new business opportunities.
We work extensively with local businesses and communities as well as key stakeholders such as the Local Enterprise Partnership, County Council, Worcestershire Growth Hub, Job Centre Plus, colleges, and local chambers of trade.
The team currently supports the delivery of a range of major business park developments (Worcester 6, Vale Park), The Pillar (a serviced office scheme), town centre and tourism investment programmes, and a range of business and skills/training grants. Wychavon District Council commissioned the production of three Town Centre Investment Prospectuses – one each for Droitwich Spa, Evesham, and Pershore. The prospectuses propose a 20-year vision for each town centre and feature a mix of physical redevelopment and perception projects.
To support the delivery of the objectives within the prospectus documents, we have since helped create Place Boards to deliver our vision for each town centre. Roles have been created within the Economic Development team to enable it to be better placed to respond to the new challenges and economic landscape facing our district. In supporting and driving economic growth in our three economic centres and our tourism and visitor economy across the district, the aim is to build on our successful record and to do so in a coordinated and strategic manner.
We are currently looking for an experienced and driven individual to provide Maternity Cover as the Place Project Officer for Evesham. You will have responsibility for promoting economic growth in the town and its surrounding areas under the supervision and coordination of the Place Projects Manager. You will be the council’s lead day-to-day project officer on multiple physical development projects as well as tourism, marketing, and events relevant to your area of responsibility. You will develop and support the Evesham Place Board and work with the chair and members to implement the annual action plan which prioritises projects relevant to the town and its economy.
