Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a highly experienced Senior Flight Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Flight Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of Flight Systems engineering data to meet project requirements in line with agreed standards and procedures.
In this role, you will work closely with other engineering and project areas in a collaborative environment to develop engineering solutions. You will plan, perform, and guide engineering tasks dependent on lifecycle phase which could include requirements development, system and equipment design and development, modelling and analysis, system integration, qualification and certification, and testing.
Your key responsibilities will include reviewing and approving specifications, reports, and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and task requirements have been achieved. You will also steer new systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes. Additionally, you will provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to other team members, sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practice.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a degree or equivalent experience or qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Physics/Maths/Science).
You will also require extensive experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Fluid Systems Engineering, preferably in an aerospace application or in a similar engineering or technology-focused industry. Your ability to effectively research system design data and apply to complex problems will be essential.
Familiarity with model-based systems engineering principles, tools, and techniques will also be necessary. Knowledge of crew systems, thermal management/environmental control systems, electrical power generation and distribution, flying controls, propulsion integration, actuation systems including electrical, and systems health management will be required. Experience with vehicle control system design, and modelling and simulation of both classical and advanced control systems will also be advantageous.
