Job responsibilities
The post holder assists in the development, administration, and provision of a specialist Occupational Therapy service, carrying a varied caseload of recently discharged patients. Managing complex assessment, with predominantly physical conditions and with regard to the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and social aspects of their care.
Directly responsible for the management of own caseload of patients referred for HOST assessment, rehabilitation, and management within the multi-disciplinary team/community.
Assists in the management of the specialist team providing, developing, and planning an Occupational Therapy service to patients for this client group.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Diploma/degree in OT by a recognised awarding body e.g. Royal College of Occupational therapists.
* Must satisfy the criteria for full membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Further qualifications/Study
Desirable
* An approved Occupational Therapy supervisor for OT/PT degree students
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of the role of Occupational Therapy for people with a wide range of physical dysfunction.
* Able to assess for and fit basic equipment to facilitate safe discharge.
* Previous experience relating to specialist area.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS and SS legislation.
* Able to assess for and fit complex equipment and teach patient/carer in the safe use of these.
* Experience with community/mental health conditions.
