Maintenance Engineer Londons Royal Docks Reports to: Engineering Manager Permanent role Location: East London, Docklands E16 Our clients is an established company responsible for land, water and assets in and around Londons Royal Docks. The Maintenance Engineer will join a small well-established team to provide the planned and unplanned maintenance support for all assets, equipment and mechanical systems associated with the estate. The post holder will work within the engineering team whilst providing technical support to the Engineering Manager and operational support as required, ensuring that work is completed with minimal disruption to the service provided and in a timely/cost effective manner. Principal Responsibilities Include; Managing the planned and unplanned maintenance works, in particular for: Two static, two swing and one Bascule bridge Small sewage plant Pumping station Small marina craft lock X6 Powerpack houses Lock gates Sluice gates Work Vessels Mechanical Operating Systems including Hydraulics Diagnosing faults in a timely manner and formulating solutions Assistance in the procurement of spares ensuring provisions are in place for all breakdowns Reporting of all breakdowns/defects/anomalies to line manager in a timely manner Key Duties: 1. To conduct routine maintenance on estate assets including, but not limited to; bascule & swing bridges, pumping station, King George V lock gates / power pack houses, sewage pumps and estate buildings 2. Reporting of all breakdowns/defects/anomalies to line manager in a timely manner 3. Diagnosing faults in a timely manner and formulating solutions 4. Routine maintenance on various mechanical systems including hydraulics 5. Assistance in the procurement of spares ensuring provisions are in place for all breakdowns 6. Communicate with clients and contractors 7. To have an understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 8. Troubleshoot faulty systems to identify problems and carry out repairs to ensure smooth operation 9. Service and maintain equipment 10. To be directly responsible to the engineering manager 11. Other duties appropriate to the post as required by management Essential Skillset Educated to City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Installation and/or Maintenance Experience in working with hydraulic systems Previous technical and hands on experience in similar role An understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act Planned maintenance experience Ability to work alone as well as in a team and exercise own initiative Full UK driving licence Desirable Skillset Experience with marine electrical systems Experience working in a marine environment Ability to drive processes Fault diagnosis The ideal candidate will be a team player and have a proactive and flexible approach in the workplace. When in post the successful candidate will be required to complete a maintenance task book and will receive training from the in-house engineering team. The Engineer is required to participate in an out of hours emergency call-out system. The candidate may be reasonably asked to perform other tasks deemed to be within their capabilities out of their normal duties. The candidate will join a rota which forms part of the call-out system. This is for emergency attendance for defect rectification during out of hours operations.
