Spectr Infotech Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. They will be involved in planning, development, troubleshooting, and ensuring that data remains consistent across the database. This role requires proactive maintenance and optimization of database performance to support the company's growing IT infrastructure and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management:
Install, configure, and manage relational databases (such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
Ensure databases are operating efficiently and meet company performance, availability, and security requirements.
Manage database storage, backup, and recovery solutions.
Performance Tuning:
Monitor system performance and database usage to optimize query response times and overall database performance.
Implement necessary changes and improvements based on performance analytics.
Security:
Ensure database security by setting up roles, permissions, and access levels.
Implement and monitor database access controls and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Perform regular security assessments and patching.
Backup & Recovery:
Implement and maintain backup solutions for database protection and recovery.
Perform routine database backups and restore operations in case of failure.
Data Integrity & Maintenance:
Perform data cleanup, migration, and transformation tasks.
Regularly audit databases to maintain data consistency, integrity, and accuracy.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Resolve database problems including recovery, database corruption, and performance issues.
Provide technical support to users and work closely with the IT team on database-related issues.
Database Design:
Collaborate with developers and IT staff to design and implement new databases.
Review and optimize database designs to improve performance and scalability.
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive database documentation including configurations, processes, and procedures.
Create and maintain records of database performance reports, backups, recovery tests, and updates.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) like MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and database design.
Proficiency in backup and recovery processes, disaster recovery planning, and security protocols.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools and techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.
Knowledge of database automation tools.
Certification in database management (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Certification).
