As part of your role you will support a vibrant young man as he explores the different activities available within Pembrokeshire. As part of this role you will promote his independence, teach important life skills and encourage him to communicate effectively. This post is funded through the Direct Payments which is funded by the local authority. This scheme is intended to enable this young man and his family to manage his support independently by employing his own personal assistants.
The main duties to be included within this role are:
• Support and encourage this young man to go out in Pembrokeshire and visit places of interest to him.
• Provide supervision while he relaxes in his own home and enjoys hobbies and activities of interest.
• Give this young man consistent one-to-one support and adapt to meet all of his emotional and personal needs.
• Encourage him to effectively communicate with others around him and whilst participating within group activities.
• Teach and encourage the use of life skills such as using the telephone or paying for shopping in order to improve his confidence and abilities.
• Ensure this young man is safe at all times during your working hours
The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Active and energetic.
• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Benefits:
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training provided, if required.
