We are recruiting toadult inpatient wards (surgical, medical and care of the elderly) plus other clinical areas (to be discussed at interview)
We are looking for compassionate individuals who are capable of providing excellent care to patients in a busy, challenging and rewarding environment. Care experience preferred, full training and induction teams at HDFT are supportive and friendly and will always assist new staff where needed.

This is a full time role and will require full flexibility in terms of working a mix of shifts. It is essential that you can work a mix of weekdays, weekends, both days and nights (see times below) including bank holidays and Christmas.
1. Early - 07:15 to 15:15
2. Late - 12:15 to 20:15hrs
3. Night - 19:45hrs to 07:45hrs
4. Long Day - 07:15hrs to 20:15h

Main duties of the job
Our Care Support Workers carry out assigned tasks involving direct patient care supervised by a Registered Nurse. They work as an integrated member of the team, assisting with nursing tasks according to agreed policies.
They maintain the patient's dignity and self-respect at all times, achieving a high standard of care.
Our Care Support Workers have an allocated team but they may be expected to work in different areas within the hospital as required.
Care Support Workers are accountable for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered and will constantly promote patient safety, effective care and a positive patient experience at each stage of the patient's journey.

Job responsibilities
We provide you with all the training you need to provide outstanding care to patients, such as:
12. Bathing of patients in bed and in the bathroom including the knowledge of the correct use of bath aids.
13. Following instructions, assisting with moving, turning and positioning the patient, having knowledge of the correct use of moving and handling equipment.
14. Assisting with care given to pressure areas of patients and the appropriate use of pressure relieving devices
15. Assisting the patient with their personal hygiene needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained and promoting independence
16. Preparing patients prior to meals, including helping to order food from menus and assisting with feeding. Helping patients to maintain adequate oral fluid intake and ensuring that accurate records are kept
17. Assisting patients to dress and undress.
18. Assisting with toileting and escorting patients to and from the toilet
19. Making beds, including stripping of bed linen
20. Assisting in the care of terminally ill patients and with the performance of the Last Offices
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
21. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of patients' furniture
22. Deliver requests between departments, answer the telephone and take messages when required
23. Assist with the reception and care of patients and relatives and all visitors to the wards
24. Assist with filing, completion of records and paperwork
COMMUNICATION
25. Report conditions of patients to nursing staff in charge of the ward
26. Report mishap or accident to nursing staff in charge of the ward using risk incident reporting as appropriate
27. Deal with patients with sensory impairment in a sensitive and appropriate manner
PERSONNEL
28. Maintain confidentiality at all times - on and off duty
29. Be aware of the safety regulations regarding fire precautions
30. Be aware of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Environmental Health Regulations and COSHH.
EDUCATION
31. Attend mandatory training
32. Attend orientation and in-service training programmes as requested
33. Maintain awareness of ward policies and procedures
34. Assist the Registered Nurse in undertaking surveys or audit as necessary
35. Attend all training sessions, complete work based activities and keep up to date alldocumentation to meet Care Certificate requirements
MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES
36. Observe a personal duty of care when handling patients' personal possessions and the procedure for safekeeping
37. Assist in monitoring and managing stock control/stock levels
38. Be aware of the effective use of resources
