Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.
About The Role:
You’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure product safety is actioned across the entire lifecycle. You’ll report to the Chief Design Engineer and have responsibility for creating system safety artefacts, such as Functional Failure Analysis or Product Integrity Plans, and generating the system safety case for our range of UAV platforms. This is an engineering role, with responsibility for ensuring delivery of safe systems to our military and civilian customers around the world.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
2. Develop and implement safety processes for product design and manufacturing.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations.
4. Investigate and analyse product safety incidents and implement corrective actions.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety is actioned across the entire lifecycle in product development.
6. Support through-life design reviews as a key stakeholder for product safety.
7. Prepare and present safety reports and documentation to stakeholders.
8. Provide training and guidance on safety practices to engineering and production teams.
Essential Skills and Experiences:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Good communication skills across all levels of an organisation.
3. Proven track record in system safety engineering.
4. Knowledge and experience of different product safety analysis techniques, such as DFMEA/PFMEA, FFA, RCA, FTA and hazard identification.
5. Pro-active mindset and ability to deliver on required company objectives without regular tasking.
6. Experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and drone technology is highly desirable.
Desired Skills and Experiences:
1. Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Product Safety Engineering qualification.
3. Experience within the Defence sector.
4. Professional Registration – Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.
