You'll support them to maintain their tenancy, and access other support services. The person needs to be highly empathetic and those with experience of supporting those with drug and alcohol abuse issues and poor mental health would potentially make good candidates. These people have challenging circumstances. The role requires someone to be brave enough to lone work for periods. Violence is is almost nil, but the ability to manage conflict and follow process is key. The real key to this role is to build a trusting and reliable relationship with the individuals to support, sustain and encourage them by utilising other services they access. But they don’t need a "bestie"- a friendly person, but not a friend is one of the main demands of the role.
