About the Role The successful candidate will teach an intensive catch-up reading programme to individuals or small groups of children in Key Stage 2 (KS2). This role is ideal for a passionate educator who enjoys helping children develop confidence in their reading skills. Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks To teach reading intervention programme 1:1 or in small groups across the school, mainly in Key Stage Two. To prepare, plan and assess teaching sessions to support learning of children, in particular those with SEN and disabilities who are significantly behind in reading To teach and develop use of phonics scheme in school to support reading To support love of reading through before, after and/or lunchtime reading clubs To attend and actively contribute to staff meetings To share relevant information with colleagues to keep teachers up to date with reading progress of children To make ongoing assessments of children’s reading attainment to support identifying gaps and next steps in reading To monitor progress of children through regular tracking of performance To present written assessments of children’s reading progress as part of SEND plans To support SEND plans for children in liaison with class teachers To attend training relevant to role and school To maintain high professional standards at all times in terms of personal behaviour and carrying out duties as an educationalist To reflect on evaluate your own performance Demonstrate evidence of professional development through participation in internal and external training opportunities, personal study and practical experience Apply specialist knowledge and skills in order to demonstrate professional proficiency For graduates with QTS, this role provides a valuable opportunity to develop teaching skills through focused one-to-one and small group work.
