Job Title: Site Services Engineer
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Salary: up to £50,000 per annum
Join a dynamic and forward-thinking family-owned business located in Bury St Edmunds! Our client, a prominent manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled Site Services Engineer to join their growing team.
In this role, you'll be part of a team working on a double-day shift pattern, providing vital support during both morning and afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday.
Role Overview:
As a Site Services Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and monitoring plant performance, swiftly addressing issues within the scope of site services responsibilities. Your expertise will contribute to achieving company goals by efficiently executing assigned maintenance tasks with the highest level of engineering proficiency. Collaboration with team members and fostering strong relationships across functional groups will be essential for success in this role.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and troubleshoot site facilities equipment including boilers, cooling towers, effluent plants, compressors, and mechanical and electrical equipment.
2. Provide technical feedback and analysis on daily operational issues.
3. Attend daily meetings and drive recommendations and actions.
4. Perform high-level static and dynamic maintenance on all equipment.
5. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
7. Assist the Engineering Manager with projects and ensure site compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental legislation.
8. Manage contractors on site and coordinate activities during emergencies.
9. Communicate the effectiveness of repairs and the impact of operational issues to the site.
10. Issue permits to work and conduct site inductions.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Essential:
1. Demonstrable experience in a technical engineering environment (Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation).
2. Engineering qualification or apprenticeship (electrical/mechanical or instrumentation).
3. Continuous improvement mindset.
4. Competent to strong IT skills.
5. Numerical and mathematical reasoning skills.
6. Good command of English, both written and oral.
7. Strong problem-solving attributes.
8. Strong cross-functional team player.
Desirable:
1. BOAS Trained or theoretical understanding of how steam boilers work.
2. Use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
3. Previous experience within a utilities environment.
4. Understanding of wastewater treatment plants.
5. Maintenance and installation of equipment in hazardous areas.
Duties:
1. Complete engineering/maintenance activities to high standards or in line with regulatory compliance.
2. Deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Utility Area.
3. Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the utility area.
4. Transition from reactive to preventative maintenance on all key equipment.
5. Collaborate with the operations function to ensure continuous uptime across the utility area.
6. Manage contractors within the utility area, including permits to work and inductions.
7. Drive improvements in environmental and energy consumption.
8. Maintain documentation in compliance with company or legislative policies and procedures.
9. Report maintenance and operational performance using appropriate company systems.
10. Support Site Services Operations team in all maintenance and operational activities.
11. Potentially be involved in projects.
12. Operate all equipment within the sphere of site services safely and professionally, if required.
