EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have an exciting opportunity to join our procurement team as a Category Manager working from our Head Office in Coventry, where you will lead the delivery and development of commercial category plans for our Professional Services & Facilities Management portfolio.
Severn Trent are making huge investments in its network over the next 5 years which create thousands of new jobs within the region. All these new roles mean that our facilities management and professional services space will be more critical than ever and you could be at the centre of shaping the strategic direction of this portfolio to support our growth.
This is a key area of spend and the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in planning and managing future demand, developing and implementing category strategies, and executing sourcing events that deliver value, incorporate sustainability and mitigate supply risk associated with critical areas of spend.
Further Responsibilities include:
1. Lead development of commercial/tender plans for assigned spend areas.
2. Monitor spend, engage stakeholders to increase management, and ensure timely contract renewals.
3. Build strong supplier relationships, align with strategic objectives, and manage performance.
4. Engage stakeholders to understand demand and involve in planning processes.
5. Advise on market risks and opportunities, manage supply risk, and develop mitigation plans.
6. Incorporate sustainability into plans and work with suppliers on performance.
7. Follow procedures, use required systems, and ensure compliance.
8. Contribute to departmental initiatives and continuous improvement.
9. Promote a safe, healthy, and positive work environment, managing supplier health and safety.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We’re looking for a candidate with CIPS Level 5 or equivalent (or willingness to work towards it), who has a detailed understanding of the procurement lifecycle and proven success in commercial outcomes, ideally within a regulated procurement environment.
You will possess strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to lead stakeholder engagements.
Analytical skills to interpret commercial data and technical confidence in using e-procurement systems are essential.
