Registered Manager – Residential Care
Location: Jesmond, Newcastle
Salary: £44,878 to £49,203 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Registered Manager with a passion for delivering high-quality care and empowering young adults with learning disabilities? Our client is seeking a dedicated leader to manage a residential service supporting individuals aged 17-30 in Jesmond, Newcastle.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a committed team, drive service excellence, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Service Management
1. Obtain and maintain Registered Manager status with the CQC, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
2. Oversee CQC inspections, local authority visits, and external stakeholder engagements.
3. Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations, care frameworks, and best practices.
4. Conduct service audits and implement action plans for continuous improvement.
Operational Leadership & Service Development
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring a high standard of care.
2. Lead on pre-placement assessments, ensuring residents' needs are fully met.
3. Oversee maintenance, health & safety, and equipment management within the home.
4. Collaborate with senior management to support strategic service development.
People Leadership & Staff Development
1. Provide inspirational leadership, fostering a positive workplace culture.
2. Recruit, onboard, and develop staff, ensuring safer recruitment practices.
3. Implement HR policies, including performance management, grievance, and disciplinary procedures.
4. Offer coaching and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
Stakeholder & Family Engagement
1. Build strong relationships with families, social care professionals, and local authorities.
2. Work closely with day services and external partners to ensure continuity of care.
3. Oversee and respond to complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely reporting.
Financial & Resource Management
1. Effectively manage budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and value for money.
24/7 Service Commitment
1. Work within a 24/7 service model, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
1. Strong communication, organisation, and IT skills.
2. In-depth knowledge of CQC standards and compliance.
3. Understanding of working with adults with learning disabilities.
4. Experience managing challenging behaviour and implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
Qualifications & Training:
1. Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker qualification.
2. Level 5 Leader in Adult Care (or willingness to work towards).
3. Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualification.
4. Care Certificate.
Experience:
1. Proven track record in managing and leading teams within a care setting.
2. Strong ability to delegate responsibilities, resolve conflicts, and motivate staff.
Personal Qualities:
1. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
2. Confident communicator, engaging effectively with staff, families, and professionals.
3. Empathetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated to delivering high-quality care.
4. Flexible and committed to working early, late, and weekend shifts as needed.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
1. Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor qualification.
2. British Sign Language (BSL) training.
3. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and handling referrals.
