The Manufacturing Engineer challenge As part of a team, the successful candidate will be responsible for optimising the performance of manufacturing operations through the delivery of quality, delivery and efficiency improvements, using continuous improvement and lean techniques. You will be based at our clients manufacturing facilities in St Ives, Cambridgeshire and will also be required to engage with our sister company’s remote manufacturing partners. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will: Drive process and component quality improvements to improve manufacturing FTPR (First Time Pass Rate). Assessment of components and processes to identify causes of failure and feedback into Engineering, Manufacturing and to Suppliers Support NPD/NPI projects. Support improvements of internal process yield and external quality PPM by the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures, test equipment and improved processes. Drive Lean Manufacturing principles and Kaizen toolset. Lead Manufacturing Engineering projects as required. Support change initiatives in manufacturing. Identify, install and commission new plant and equipment to meet the businesses changing product and process needs. The Manufacturing Engineer will be: Flexible teammate who thrives in a busy manufacturing environment. Creative problem solver, with the ability to take ideas through to implementation. Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for process improvement The Manufacturing Engineer experience will include: 3 years in a manufacturing/operations/engineering role A demonstrated ability to design and create mechanical solutions. Evidence of excellent practical skills, including basic fault finding. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles An understanding of electrical engineering principles and/or electronics would be beneficial.
