Resident Service/Maintenance Engineer
Overview
AD Energy Recruitment is supporting an industry leader in automotive/engine test technologies with their recruitment for a resident engineer, located in Darlington. This offers an opportunity to work on industry-leading engine testing facilities, to maintain, service, calibrate, and commission test facility equipment onsite.
The right candidate will need to be electrical or electronics biased with electrical fault-finding experience, with some mechanical skills too. Training will be provided and ongoing support throughout. Rights to work in the UK will be needed.
Responsibilities
1. To maintain, repair, calibrate and service engine testing equipment or competitor equipment.
2. To commission products, test facilities or contractually defined equipment and/or services.
3. To ensure that operation and handover to the client meets the specifications defined.
4. To carry out first line fault analysis and, where possible, repair of equipment in line with contractual obligations.
5. To assist in the in-house testing of engine testing equipment prior to site installation and commissioning.
6. To work closely with project managers, designers, and sub-contractors throughout the project phase to provide input on methodologies, function, safety, and costs for test plant and services.
7. To work closely with project managers and installation staff to ensure efficient commissioning of plant, meeting operational specifications and project timelines.
8. To take ownership of site activities following installation and bring test plant into operation.
9. To document and record all parameters and activities and produce handover documentation about supplied equipment and facilities.
10. To ensure safe commissioning of plant and service, actively involved in risk analysis and enforcement of safe working practices.
11. To keep detailed daily records of all work carried out and produce detailed technical reports upon request.
12. To maintain accurate records of resources and costs used in commissioning and assist the Project Manager in obtaining customer acceptance of contracted work.
13. To maintain and develop personal skills in the wide range of technologies involved in test facilities.
14. To establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers, representing the company professionally.
15. To provide technical hotline phone support to the service department for site-related problems if requested.
16. To work strictly within processes and procedures, supporting continuous improvement of the Customer Services Area.
17. To actively support safe working practices at the customer's site.
18. To be flexible in their working role and assist in related work issues within their individual skill set.
19. To work to deadlines and complete all internal paperwork within the required timeframe set by SVM.
General Requirements
* Educated up to minimum of HND level in electronics or equivalent demonstrated experience.
* Wide operational experience of modern industrial plant.
* Automotive or Electrical Engineering background is essential.
* Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to work unsupervised under pressure.
* Good interpersonal skills with all levels of customers and employer’s staff.
* Full Driving License.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and generally IT literate.
* Team player willing to accept responsibility within the role.
