The Role
As a Cryptography Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing projects focused on cryptographic solutions, ensuring that they align with security standards, business objectives, and compliance requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of cryptography, cybersecurity, and project management principles. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a solid technical background in cryptographic practices and information security.
Key Responsibilities :
* Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support organisational security and business objectives.
* Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for cryptography projects.
* Coordinate with technical teams to implement cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and tools securely and efficiently.
* Identify and manage risks associated with cryptographic implementations, including data encryption, key management, and security protocol vulnerabilities.
* Ensure all cryptographic solutions meet regulatory and compliance standards, such as FIPS, GDPR, HIPAA, and others as applicable.
* Work with compliance and legal teams to address any regulatory requirements impacting cryptographic practices.
* Serve as the primary point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication on project status, risks, and updates.
* Provide regular progress reports and communicate any roadblocks, ensuring transparency with project stakeholders.
* Conduct stakeholder meetings to discuss project goals, timelines, budgets, and scope adjustments as needed.
* Maintain and enforce cryptographic best practices, policies, and protocols across projects.
* Research, evaluate, and implement new cryptographic techniques and technologies as necessary.
* Collaborate with security architects and engineers to ensure robust and scalable cryptographic implementations.
* Oversee project team members, assigning tasks and managing workloads to ensure timely completion.
* Mentor team members on cryptographic concepts and best practices, fostering a culture of security awareness.
* Organize training sessions or resources to ensure that team members stay current with cryptography and cybersecurity trends.
* Work with quality assurance and security testing teams to validate cryptographic implementations.
* Oversee security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments on cryptographic solutions.
* Ensure that cryptographic solutions are tested for reliability, efficiency, and scalability before deployment.
Your Profile
Key skills/knowledge/experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
* Experience in project management, preferably within information security, cryptography, or cybersecurity.
* Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, algorithms, and protocols (e.g., RSA, AES, ECC, SHA).
* Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project).
* Knowledge of data protection standards, including FIPS, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
* Familiarity with public key infrastructure (PKI), key management systems (KMS), HSM & digital signatures, and related security tools.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
* Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
* Experience in conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and cryptographic compliance assessments.
* Hands-on experience with cloud security, especially with AWS or Azure cryptographic services.
