Duration: 2 to 4 years whilst studying towards a qualification from Level 3 (equivalent to A-level) to Level 6 (equivalent to a degree)
Who can apply: There are different entry requirements depending on the apprenticeship level:
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade A*-C (or 9-4 on the new grading system) or equivalent including Maths and English by the time this programme starts in September 2025.
Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford.
About the role:
As a Digital learning and content apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and delivery of engaging digital learning content for our training programmes. You will work closely with our Senior digital learning and content developer, gaining hands-on experience in e-learning design, digital content creation, and user support.
Through this apprenticeship, you will learn how to manage learning platforms, create multimedia resources, and enhance learner experiences using innovative digital technologies. You will also undertake a structured apprenticeship programme to build your skills in digital learning design, ensuring a blend of real-world practice and theoretical knowledge. You will learn and implement pedagogical best practice during the creation of this content.
Responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the administration and management of Jisc training's online course support platform, and supporting trainers in setting up virtual classrooms, updating course information, and managing course areas.
* Contributing to the creation of digital learning modules, animations, and interactive videos by supporting storyboarding and content design processes, working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to transform complex information into user-friendly digital learning materials.
* Supporting the administration of Jisc training’s digital credentialing system and collaborating with colleagues to explore new opportunities for expanding the digital credentialing service.
* Providing administrative support for the scheduling, development, and facilitation of courses, helping manage project timelines, ensuring learning materials remain up-to-date and relevant, gathering feedback from SMEs and users for improvements.
* Assisting with research into new trends, tools, and methods for digital learning, helping identify opportunities for improving learner engagement and content delivery.
* Working closely with the senior developer, SMEs, trainers, and other departments to ensure all learning objectives are met, assisting in communicating content requirements and technical specifications with internal teams and external partners.
Key Skills and Experience:
* A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade A*-C (or 9-4 on the new grading system) or equivalent including Maths and English by the time this programme starts in September 2025.
* Exposure to digital tools, e-learning authoring platforms, virtual learning environments (VLEs) and learning management systems (LMSs).
* Experience with e-learning authoring tools, online graphic design tools and video editing software platforms would be perfect. As would basic experience with multimedia tools or an interest in learning them.
* An understanding of AI prompt engineering and experience using generative AI content creation platforms.
* Basic IT literacy, with a keen interest in learning digital content creation tools and e-learning authoring platforms.
* Problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and methodologies.
