We currently have an exciting opportunity available to recruit a permanent Community Alarms Officer.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who possess a good working knowledge of the community alarm service, including assessing and installing telecare equipment for individuals within their own homes.
* You must hold a full driving license and be able to drive the Council's fleet of vehicles, both manual and automatic.
You must hold Literacy Level 2 qualification as a minimum or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
* You will be required to plan the diary to ensure all assessments are completed as scheduled.
* To undertake the installation, demonstration, and programming of a range of alarm and telecare equipment.
* To operate the control centre equipment on a 24-hour basis and to receive and answer incoming calls in accordance with the Telecare Service Association Code of Practice policies, procedures, and service standards.
* To identify the type of emergency, assess the needs of the customer, and initiate appropriate action on calls received on a wide range of issues, including emergency, medical, social, housing, telecare, and care.
* To provide courteous and professional service at all times, offering information, advice, and support when dealing with customers, colleagues, councillors, customers, and contractors, and taking the necessary action to conclude the query.
* To receive calls from individuals and establishments being monitored for lone workers, telecare, telehealth, fire, burglary, temperature control, etc., and take action as appropriate.
* Provide an out of hours answering and filtering services for the authorities repairs and other services, deciding priority, and communicating and liaising with trades operatives, contractors, and standby supervisors where appropriate.
* To undertake safety checks on the vehicle used in the course of these duties.
* To provide emergency first aid, and lifting and handling as required.

Working Pattern: A rota pattern consisting of 07:00 to 19:10 hours and 19:00 to 07:10 hours over a 6-week rota pattern.
Band D + 17% shift allowance.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Literacy Level 2 qualification as a minimum or equivalent.
* Full Driving Licence (Manual as well as Automatic).
Experience
* Experience of and proven sustained commitment to working with vulnerable people in a caring capacity within their own home, and/or in a residential setting.
* Experience of Social alarm or similar equipment within a Control Centre or other environment.
* Experience of using modern ICT packages, paying attention to detail when inputting sensitive data.
* Experience of prioritising emergency calls and ensuring primary calls are responded to first.
