National Grid is hiring a Policy & Code Development Lead in our Customer Connections Team based in Warwick working on a hybrid basis.
About the role
In this role you will lead the development of the commercial policy and codes that delivery our Commercial Strategy. Your main responsibility will be developing our negotiating strategy, approving stakeholder engagement plans and resourcing all commercial policy and code development activities across a broad range, often controversial, commercial issues.
You will provide critical oversight of SMEs sources from across Electricity Transmission to ensure changes to the industry’s commercial framework is executed effectively; and that National Grid Electricity Transmission is seen as a thought leader supporting changes that deliver industry efficiencies and decarbonisation.
What you'll do
* Establish ways of working (e.g. processes and tools) to ensure a consistent approach to developing and implementing policy and code change, that considers our Commercial Strategy and customer / regulatory needs.
* Be accountable for the development and approval of our negotiating position and strategy for external policy development (including working groups).
* Develop and execute strategies, including negotiations, to deliver our strategic aims through working with our customers, other industry parties, Ofgem, ENA, and NESO.
* Source and coordinate appropriate skilled resource (SMEs) from across ET to deliver policy and code change, be that internal policy documents or representing the business externally.
* Represent Electricity Transmission at working groups, senior level steering groups and industry panels to ensure our strategic and customer ambitions are realised.
* Be accountable for the assessment of third-party mods and the impact these have on the delivery of our Commercial Strategy and make recommendations on how these should be prioritised.
About you
* Experience of leading complex policy change with a track record of successful outcomes.
* A record that demonstrates an appetite for continuous improvement of self and team.
* Strong Stakeholder Management experience and ability to collaborate successfully across teams.
* Experience representing organisations in industry forums on contentious issues.
* Expert understanding of the industry commercial frameworks – both what they say and why.
* Experience within the Electricity industry, utilities industry or within a regulated environment.
* Degree in numerate discipline or equivalent experience.
What you'll get
* Salary of £65,000 - £75,000 dependent on capability.
* Annual Performance Based Bonus up to 15% of your base salary.
