Band 7 Clinical Scientist in Non-Ionising Radiation Imaging
This is a new and exciting opportunity at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, within the expanding Radiation Protection department, supporting a wide variety of non-ionising radiation modalities with an emphasis on ultrasound, phototherapy, lasers and MR.
We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Scientist with interests in these areas. You will join a team of Clinical Scientists that provide scientific support to these non-ionising radiation modalities in both the provision of non-ionising radiation protection and diagnostic radiology services.
An important aspect of this post is the delivery of efficient, high-quality non-ionising radiation protection, quality assurance, teaching and supporting research activities.
We require applicants who can rise to the challenge of delivering a multi-site/multi-customer service over a wide range of non-ionising radiation modalities.
Main Duties of the Job
The Radiation Protection Section sits within the growing Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Department at Royal Berkshire Hospital. Our role is to support the Trust and clients in ionising and non-ionising radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics. We are also involved with ionising radiation including RPA and RWA services and training in all areas. Your role will be assisting in the delivery of laser, ultrasound, blue-light and UV therapies, and MR services within a large NHS district general hospital, two community hospitals, and various smaller establishments including 5 private hospitals and a community dental service.
Applicants should either have state-registration as a Clinical Scientist or be close to achieving this with Imaging with Non-Ionising Radiation as a specialty. This role provides a wide variety and will allow the successful applicant to consolidate and extend training in their chosen specialism and also allow them to broaden their expertise. We are committed to actively supporting the professional development of our staff. A full driving license will be necessary as the post involves travel between hospital sites across Berkshire.
