Job Overview
Jensen Hughes, a leading consulting firm specializing in risk analysis and engineering solutions, is actively seeking talented mid / senior-level nuclear engineers, with a nuclear safety background. This position will primarily support regulatory compliance, risk assessment needs within the nuclear industry, and studies to deploy advanced reactors and SMRs in Europe. While the project team is based in the UK, we are open to remote work arrangements for exceptional candidates. Our diverse team serves clients globally, providing specialized consulting services ranging from routine nuclear power plant operations to cutting-edge research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing plant safety and efficiency.
As a Consulting Engineer with Jensen Hughes, you will join a dynamic team of nuclear consultants dispersed across the globe. In your role, you will have the opportunity to support the growth of our technical offering in nuclear projects and facilities work, across the globe. As a knowledge expert you will be working with other nuclear experts and alongside existing staff to deliver innovative solutions for nuclear safety and reliability consulting services.
Beyond technical responsibilities, your role may include project management, which includes developing proposals, allocating resources efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Your role will involve a variety of responsibilities tailored to your expertise and interests, including but not limited to:
1. Working mainly in an expert role related to nuclear safety and licensing. The work may also include technical project management tasks.
2. Providing support to various countries in their new nuclear power projects, including feasibility studies related to site and technology assessment, regulation and licensing support, and capacity building.
3. Support PRA modelling, PRA applications, Human Reliability Analysis (HRA), and hazard assessment.
4. Support other tasks related to nuclear safety and licensing.
5. Participating in Business Development activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
1. Master's degree or higher from an accredited university in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering (or other similar fields).
2. Relevant experience in an expert role related to nuclear safety and licensing.
3. Strong English communication and writing skills are a must, given the collaborative nature of our work and the need to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
4. A team-player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels in a matrix global organization.
5. Experience in managing different projects simultaneously, and handling ambiguities and project uncertainties.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in nuclear power plant engineering, nuclear plant systems, licensing, operations, advanced nuclear technologies, and SMRs, or similar technical areas is highly desirable.
2. Knowledge of PRA, HRA, internal and external hazard assessment, safety analyses and assessments, nuclear waste management, and/or decommissioning is an advantage.
3. Project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently, would be advantageous in this role.
