Project Curator: Hawaiʻi Exhibition

About the role:
To support the exhibition project team, assisting the Lead Curator in the development and delivery of a new temporary exhibition focused on Hawaiʻi associated programming and outputs (e.g. publication, digital resources). The work will involve liaising with key internal stakeholders, including curatorial and technical staff across various curatorial departments, the Exhibitions department, Photography and Imaging, Collection Care, Interpretation, Communications and Marketing. You will also help liaise with various external stakeholders in the UK and abroad.
Key areas of responsibility:
1. To work as a core member of the Project Team, assisting the Lead Curator and Project Manager as well as liaising with other key internal stakeholders including Conservation, Collection Care, Learning and Audience, Loans, Marketing, Communications, Advancement, Operations, BM Company.
2. To liaise and support collaborative processes with all external stakeholders, community members, partners and contributors.
3. To compile and manage a digital database with object list and images and provide regular object list updates to the Project Team.
4. To track and monitor the movement of BM objects for the exhibition between departments (such as conservation and photography).
5. To manage and file project documentation and correspondence. To obtain necessary input from collaborators and partners, as well as necessary information about loans (dimensions, special condition requirements, credit lines and copyright) through liaising with lenders and International and Departmental loans officers.
6. To assist the Lead Curator with background research, community engagement, picture research and picture acquisition for the exhibition and publication, and to coordinate new photography and manage photographic orders.
About you:
1. Degree in a relevant subject, especially in art history, anthropology or equivalent.
2. High proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and managing digital imagery.
3. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
4. Museum or gallery experience; exhibition project experience; research experience or equivalent.
5. Excellent team player; creative and patient problem solver; Diplomatic, strong communication skills at all levels.
