Our client, an international UK freight forwarder, is looking for a Seafreight Import Export Clerk to join their team in Glasgow.
We are looking for candidates who are 'hands-on' with a good operational know-how of import/export procedures.
Our client is looking for someone who can handle all aspects of an Ocean import/export job role, from taking bookings to shipping with the lines, updating shipments in Cargo Wise, and creating/filling ISF - covering every aspect of the job role from start to finish.
As the Seafreight Import Export Clerk, you will be creating files both manually and on the computer system, receiving/checking relevant documentation, and passing it on to shipping lines.
Responsibilities:
* Receiving pre-alerts from overseas agents
* Checking manifests once received
* Dealing with customs clearance
* Quoting rates
Skills Required:
* Excellent customer service skills and commercial sense
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Confident telephone manner
* Good administrative and MS Excel skills
This role would suit someone starting out in freight forwarding, who is looking to learn the fundamentals to build a long-term career in the industry.
In return, the successful Seafreight Import Export Clerk will receive a negotiable salary depending on experience and qualifications.
