Technical CAD Technician
Role Location: Omega, Warrington
Reporting To: Group Technical Engineering Manager
Role Summary: THG - CAD technician are responsible for supporting the effective management and delivery of all projects related technical drawings from a 2D/3D perspective across THG operational sites for the development of capital projects.
The Technical CAD Technician will coordinate the collation of information and process the necessary technical drawings and 3D models associated with the Solutions teams requirements.

Role Responsibilities
1. Create and Update Technical Drawings: Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for a variety of projects, including layouts, schematics, and detailed designs.Modify and revise existing drawings as necessary to reflect design changes or updates.
2. Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and translate them into precise technical drawings.Attend project meetings to gather information, discuss design concepts, and provide input on drawing-related matters.
3. Ensure Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards, regulations, and company specifications.Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
4. Maintain Drawing Repositories: Organize and maintain a digital repository of all project drawings, ensuring easy access and retrieval by team members.Implement and follow version control processes to track drawing revisions and updates.
5. Support in Design Development: Assist in the development of design concepts by creating preliminary sketches and visualizations.Contribute to the design process by offering technical insights and suggestions based on CAD expertise.
6. Coordinate with External Stakeholders: Interface with external vendors, contractors, and clients to share drawings, clarify design intent, and resolve any drawing-related queries.Ensure that external stakeholders receive the correct and most up-to-date drawings.
7. Stay Updated with CAD Software: Continuously improve skills by staying current with the latest CAD software updates and industry trends.Recommend and implement new tools and technologies to improve drawing efficiency and accuracy.
8. Assist in Project Documentation: Contribute to the preparation of project documentation, including technical reports, drawing packages, and design manuals.Ensure all drawings are properly documented and archived upon project completion.
Required Qualifications and Skills
9. HNC/HND or BTEC in a relevant field such as Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or Design.
10. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
11. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) is essential.
12. Experience with other CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Revit, SketchUp, or MicroStation, is highly beneficial.
13. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software and processes is advantageous.
14. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a CAD technician in an engineering, construction, manufacturing, or architectural environment.
15. Proven track record of producing high-quality 2D and 3D drawings and models for various types of projects.
16. Strong understanding of engineering and architectural principles, design standards, and technical specifications.
17. Knowledge of UK building regulations, codes of practice, and relevant industry standards.
18. Demonstrated ability to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings with a strong attention to detail.
19. Experience in performing quality checks to ensure drawings meet project specifications and industry standards.
20. Ability to identify and resolve design and technical issues within drawings.
21. Creative thinking and technical insight to suggest improvements or alternative design solutions.
22. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and project managers.
23. Experience in liaising with external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and vendors.
24. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
25. Experience in maintaining organized drawing archives and documentation.
26. A commitment to ongoing professional development, including keeping up-to-date with the latest CAD software, industry trends, and best practices.
27. Certification in specific CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) can be an advantage.
