An opportunity has arisen to work as a band 3 physiotherapy assistant within the front of house Physiotherapy team based at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital(NSECH).
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside registered Physiotherapists assessing and treating patients in the Emergency department and a number of wards based at NSECH.
The successful applicate will join a team of 10 Physiotherapists dedicated to this area and will support the co-ordination of referrals, carry out treatment plans delegated by a qualified Physiotherapist and ensure the correct equipment is available to support patients.
This is a fast paced and busy environment which requires good organisational and communication skills as well as resilience.
The applicant will work predominantly Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30 but may be required to work a late shift and weekends.

• To assist physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans.
• To assist a qualified Physiotherapist in the implementation of treatment programmes for individual patients or groups of patients.
• Work with the physiotherapist to improve the patient’s quality of life, aiming to achieve maximum functional ability and independence.
• To facilitate arrangement of appointments, transport and ordering of equipment.
• To be responsible for the overall hygiene & maintenance of the department and equipment.
• Complete administration task as required

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
• Previous experience as a Physiotherapy or Health Care Assistant desirable (or equivalent in social care setting).
• Sensitive attitude towards patients and their carers.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
• Ability to work flexibly and respond to the changing needs of patients and carers.
• Ability to work without continuous supervision.
• Ability to undertake 6-12 months training to include short courses and in house training to achieve desired competencies in manual treatment and therapeutic handling of patients.
• Commitment to life long learning and maintenance of a CPD diary
• The opportunity of gaining further knowledge, skills and expertise will be supported in line with the physiotherapy CPD strategy.
• Basic IT skills.
• Current driving license desirable.
