Head of Culture, Events, Heritage and Tourism
Description
We are recruiting a Head of Culture, Events, Heritage and Tourism for a public sector client in Southeast London. Strategically manage, lead and coordinate the Culture and Events service in line with the missions in our corporate plan. This includes responsibility for delivering cultural strategy, developing and delivering festivals, events, and grant funding programmes, creating sponsorship opportunities, managing budget and finances, programme delivery, working on partnerships, and making day-to-day decisions on service delivery.
Responsibilities
Responsible for strategically commissioning services that deliver against the priorities and outcomes of culture, heritage and tourism. To take lead responsibility on the client side for developing and providing efficient, effective and customer-focused services, ensuring that the relevant providers are fulfilling their duties as part of their service level agreements to deliver cultural, heritage and tourism services.
Qualification – Essential
1. GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
2. Substantial experience as a senior manager in a culture, events, or heritage of tourism role or holding a recognised qualification and relevant experience.
3. Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements - Criteria-to be Tested at Shortlisting.
1. Experience in strategic planning, decision making and influencing strategic decision-makers in the culture, events, heritage or tourism sector.
2. Experience managing and delivering large, complex, thriving culture, events, tourism or heritage projects from concept to implementation.
3. Experience working in the culture, events, heritage or tourism sector, including up-to-date knowledge of crucial sector legislation, strategies, and funding regimes.
4. Experience delivering successful bids for external funding from third parties in the culture, events, tourism or heritage sectors.
5. Demonstrable ability to build a motivated, engaged team.
6. Exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
7. Experience in leading the procurement and implementation of third-party providers.
8. Ability to develop and maintain supportive and empathetic relationships.
9. Demonstrates strong leadership with integrity whilst also promoting equality and integrity.
10. Knowledge of local government, legislation and public sector services.
11. Commitment to equality and diversity, identifying service strategies to deliver equitable and fair services.
