As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted academic and emotional support to students. This role is ideal for recent Psychology graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in a school setting, particularly those considering a future in educational psychology, teaching, or child mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, particularly those facing emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
Assist in creating tailored learning interventions for students with specific needs and learning difficulties.
Collaborate with teachers and the SEN department to adapt learning materials, ensuring students can access the curriculum.
Utilise your knowledge of psychology to develop strategies that support students’ mental health and emotional well-being.
Help manage behaviour in the classroom, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and support staff.
Support the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional learning assistance.
Candidate Requirements:
A degree in Psychology or a related field is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
A passion for supporting young people and a desire to help them achieve their potential.
Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is desirable but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
