Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Nurse with experience of delivering specialist dementia care, to become an Admiral Nurse for Manchester Foundation Trust & Trafford Local Care Organisation. We are looking for a Registered Nurse (adult/mental health/learning disability) with the ability to balance managing a caseload of patients and families with dementia and/or complex needs, alongside developing and maintaining a service. You will be a leader in role-modelling excellent dementia care and use your skills, knowledge and attributes to deliver support, training and education.
Main duties of the job
As an Admiral Nurse, you will use your expert clinical knowledge and skills, through a range of therapeutic interventions, to enhance relationships, prevent crises, support people to be cared for at home for as long as possible, or transition into long term care. Offering much-needed practical and emotional support to families.
The post holder must be committed to practicing in a person- and relationship-centred way and have the compassion and drive to become a real ambassador for dementia care.
In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at a specialist level, the post holder will provide:
* Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs
* Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care
* Support with service development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care
* Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and alongside adult services and third sector providers, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the care of people and their families affected by dementia, and support the best practice of other health and social care professionals.
Alongside the Trust & TLCO, Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a Specialist Nurse through regular clinical supervision and practice and professional development.
