Northwood College is seeking to appoint an innovative, inspirational and experienced Physical Education teacher who is fully committed to assisting the Director of Sport in maintaining the positive profile of the department. They will have experience of teaching academic PE, in addition to managing a busy fixture and extra-curricular programme, and be ready to develop their skills in leadership and management through the role. This is an ideal position for someone looking to become a Director of Sport in the future. Candidates should be confident in teaching students in and out of the classroom, ranging from complete beginners to those of a high standard, offering encouragement, support and guidance as necessary. They should also have a record of outstanding classroom practice, with the ability to communicate in an imaginative and enthusiastic way both during theory and practical lessons. Current knowledge of specifications and pedagogy in Physical Education, in line with the academic expectations of the school, would be beneficial. A willingness to lead by example and be proactive in dealing with changing environments is essential. The Department: The Physical Education Department is a positive and dedicated team of eight, led by our enthusiastic Director of Sport who is keen to develop competitive sport, whilst also encouraging participation and a love of physical activity. The department has some excellent facilities including a large 4 badminton court sports hall, a newly refurbished indoor 6 lane 25 metre swimming pool, two netball / tennis courts, a newly resurfaced small astro-turf which caters for a further two netball courts, a hockey D and multi-use pitch, a large grass pitch and a long jump pit. There is also a 7 metre high, five line climbing wall that includes 3 auto belays and a 30 metre traversing wall.
