This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
About Us
Located in the Centre for Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine at Guy's Hospital (London, UK), the Lord Lab focuses on lymphocyte biology (predominantly T cells/Tregs and innate lymphoid cells). We investigate transcriptional and post-translational control of gene expression in these cell types, with particular emphasis on lineage-specific transcription factors and microRNAs. In addition, we undertake first-in-human clinical trials of cell therapy to treat autoimmune diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease.
About the Role
We are seeking a Laboratory Manager with a PhD in infectious diseases, immunology, molecular biology, or a related field. The role involves designing, implementing, and supervising key research projects involving advanced immunological techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex assays, and molecular biology methods (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9, qPCR, and RNA/DNA extraction).
Responsibilities include managing daily lab tasks such as ordering supplies, maintaining organization, monitoring stocks, aliquoting, and assisting with experiments as needed. Provide advanced technical expertise gained through experience and/or formal qualification in a broad range of scientific/technical areas, and proficient use of complex procedures that require considerable skill with a thorough understanding of the underlying technical/scientific theory and recent advances. Take independent decisions in a timely manner to solve problems that impact on the service and contribute to collaborative decisions that have far-reaching effects.
You will participate in lab meetings, acquire and analyze data from in vitro and in vivo samples, and assist in writing papers and grant applications.
This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. This position requires full-time on-site work.
