We are looking to recruit a Community Rehab Team Lead to join the West Kent Therapies Services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to move their career in a more managerial direction and seeking the challenge of a large team, across multiple localities, providing a broad range of service deliverables. We are a friendly, well-established multi-disciplinary therapy team of approx. 40 staff, comprising of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Apprentices, Therapy Assistants and Administrators. The team's remit delivers several different services to a diverse patient cohort including orthopaedics, frailty, falls, long-term condition management and amputees, in domiciliary and clinic settings across West Kent. These are General Community Rehab MDT Therapy Ageing Well Clinics and First Contact Practitioner Care Home OTs (details in job description). All with the ultimate goal of supporting people to live well with the greatest quality of life possible. The trust has a pending period of transformation following the Community Services Review, with the drive for services to be built around the patients at home. The role is being advertised as up to full-time hours. However, as a trust that supports flexible working, we are open to considering part-time options for the right candidates. Minimum requirement would be 30 hours across four working days to meet the demands of the role effectively.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the team ensuring adequate staffing and resources to deliver across all service provisions with rostering and recruitment. Ensuring the service is delivered effectively and is performing against any measured targets, as well as providing high standard of clinical quality in line with national and professional guidelines. Direct supervision is provided by this post holder to the clinical lead therapists, and is then cascaded through the team, providing support when needed for sickness and performance management. The services work from three bases across the patch (Maidstone, Tonbridge and Edenbridge). The role therefore offers flexible working with some working from home opportunities; however, visibility to support staff is required regularly at sites. Alongside the management elements, the role holds an expectation of carrying own caseload (approx. 30% of working week being patient-facing), allowing applicant to retain their clinical expertise and ensure a full understanding of the demands on the clinicians you are leading. Applicants need to be able to drive and have own car as need to be able to travel across the locality for both leadership and clinical activity.
