Assistant Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Plymouth. This role is pivotal in supporting the Commercial and Quantity Surveying functions within the Plymouth Highways Term Service Contract, helping to drive value, efficiency, and cost management across various projects and maintenance schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Maximizing Commercial Return: Monitor and enhance profitability on contract orders.
Value for Money: Implement strategies for efficiency savings.
Cost and Value Management: Review and report weekly cost & value metrics collaborate closely with operations.
Subcontract Management: Oversee accounts from procurement through to final account.
Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare monthly contract forecasts and reports in collaboration with operational managers.
Record-Keeping and Accuracy: Ensure accurate records are maintained and presented to the client.
Client Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and transparent relationship with the client.
Financial Management: Assist finance teams in preparing monthly payment applications.
Commercial Assistance to Operations: Support operations with financial and commercial expertise.
Site Measurement and Reporting: Attend contract progress meetings, conduct site measurements, and ensure thorough documentation.
Team Support: Promote positive team morale and carry out tasks requested by management.
Application for Payment: Accurately and promptly prepare applications and invoices, along with supporting documents.
Valuation and Reconciliation: Compile monthly valuation reports and cost value reconciliations.
Early Warning Notices: Assist in the preparation and internal reporting of Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events.
Operational Support: Provide contractual advice to site managers and supervisors as needed.
Client and Partner Relations: Build strong, long-term relationships with operational managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Minimum: GCSE or equivalent.
Essential Skills:
Experience with small to medium-sized contracts.
Competency in labor, plant, and materials costing.
Proficient in valuations, applications for payment, and cost control.
Familiar with subcontract processes including enquiries, orders, and pre-let meetings.
Knowledgeable in measurement, rates, and build-up cost analysis.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in estimating, use of SAP.
Additional Skills
A collaborative team player with effective communication skills.
Methodical, logical, and detail-oriented approach to work.
Strong computer literacy.
