A successful youth support worker will be responsible for:
* Building positive and trusting relationships with young people, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for them to express themselves.
* Offering emotional support and counselling to help young people navigate challenges and overcome personal obstacles.
* Assisting in the development and implementation of individual care plans, tailored to meet each young person's unique needs and goals.
* Encouraging educational attainment and providing educational support where necessary.
* Facilitating workshops, group activities, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, social skills, and decision-making abilities.
* Collaborating with other team members and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the young person's care.
* Monitoring and evaluating progress, maintaining accurate records, and reporting on the young person's development.
To be successful in your application, you will:
* Have previous experience working in a care setting with young people.
* Experience in a secure setting is beneficial, but not essential.
* Have knowledge of cognitive behavioural approaches, attachment theory, and child protection policy.
* Have experience advocating on behalf of a young person.
* Register under the PVG scheme.
* Full driving licence.
* Obtained SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
