Job summary This role is located in a British Overseas Territory, therefore UK legislation such as the Data Protection Act (2018) and the Equality Act (2010), or similar, may not apply. The position holder will be responsible for carrying out audiology procedures including all types of adult testing and hearing aid care in accordance with current recommendations in an efficient and effective manner. They will also adhere to best practice of audiology techniques and anticipated knowledge to guarantee that patients are provided optimal care. The post holder will have a focus on adult audiology and tinnitus management but will also assist with Paediatric testing as required. The post holder will work with multidisciplinary teams and will take a supporting role in the planning and implementation of changes within the Audiology Department to support the development of Audiology services. They will have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility and are expected to engage in lifelong learning. Main duties of the job To be responsible for performing routine Audiological test battery on adults. To undertake appointment sessions to include the assessment, counselling and rehabilitation of patients who are suffering with tinnitus. To liaise with the ENT regarding management of patients with tinnitus. To assist in performing Paediatric hearing testing, including Visual Reinforcement Audiometry in the distractor role and assisted play audiometry. To assist in the provision of the Adult hearing aid service, including fittings, routine follow-ups and repairs. To undertake and lead on the assessment of adults referred from a variety of sources, e.g. GP & ENT. To undertake and lead on the hearing assessment of adults with complex needs. To make decisions regarding onwards referral for patients as necessary, either within the GHA or elsewhere. Interpretation of test results and communication of results to patients and family. Liaise with appropriate clinicians from outside service providers as necessary. Develop, implement and provide a Hearing Screening Programme for over 65s and ERS in Gibraltar. To develop, implement and provide a tinnitus service in Gibraltar. Including assessment and management. Conduct audit of current hearing aid service. Prepare audiological reports with findings and recommendations. Data collection and maintenance. Have an awareness of local external agencies who can provide additional help and support to the patient.
