Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a medical secretary to work within the department of Trauma and Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of experienced medical secretaries supporting the trauma service in the University Hospital of Wales under the supervision of the operational manager.
Main duties of the job
To ensure the provision of a comprehensive effective secretarial service to the Consultants, working within Trauma and Orthopaedics. Organise, plan and prioritise tasks and workload. Assist with the implementation of new administrative and secretarial procedures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or Higher
Experience
* Knowledge of a wide range of secretarial procedures including Microsoft Office
* Wide understanding of medical terminology
* Significant Medical Secretary experience
* Knowledge of the Patient Management System (PMS), UHB Intranet, Email, Results Reporting
* Experience of working within the NHS
Skills
* Excellent organizational skills
* Able to function efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Able to work unsupervised and use own initiative
