Senior System Engineer
Location: Dundee, UK
Salary: £55k-74k (depending on experience) + Attractive Bonus + Pension Scheme + Benefits
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Product Engineering Team based in Dundee. This is a multi-discipline team developing and supporting the production of ATMs (Automated Teller Machines). Each ATM combines a range of financial Self-Service modules that are packaged to deliver complex transactions in a wide variety of environments.
We are seeking an experienced Senior System/Electronic Engineer who will develop the electrical system architecture within the ATM. The successful candidate will be a highly focused, self-motivated individual able to lead a team of electrical/system engineers while demonstrating good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Help define, maintain & ensure adherence to the ATM System Architecture design.
2. Help in the definition of how architecture evolves in line with industry & technology trends.
3. Implement best practice design & identify any technical risks.
4. Develop ATM system interconnect diagrams & system architectures.
5. Lead a small technical team to support the needs of various projects.
6. Solve complex hardware/software interoperability problems.
7. Support various projects through planning, development & test.
8. Attend or lead design reviews.
9. Prepare documentation, procurement specifications, functional specifications, and test reports.
10. Prepare senior management reports on project status.
Must understand the importance of attention to detail and have excellent written and spoken communication skills & be able to communicate status at a senior level.
Required Skills and Experience
1. Substantial industry experience of analogue and digital electronics.
2. Awareness of industry trends & understanding of latest/future technologies.
3. Strong understanding of PC Architecture, especially USB & other comms protocols.
4. Experience in PCB development and test, including schematic entry.
5. Experience of device firmware development & tools.
6. Experience of electrical system debug techniques & tools.
7. Good understanding of International test standards applicable to IT equipment, including safety and EMC.
8. Comfortable with Project Management techniques and an ability to manage time effectively and work within tight deadlines.
9. Experience in leading a small technical team to deliver against project timelines.
10. Experience using Cadence or other PCB design tools and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in the following industries would be considered relevant: Automotive, Avionics, Military, White goods, Motion control, Modern production environment, consumer electronics, IT equipment & ATM design.
Qualifications
1. Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Physics or related subject.
2. Experience in an electronics design environment.
