We have an exciting opportunity for a Machinist to join our Pattern Shop team here at Williams Racing. In this role you will be responsible for setting up and machining patterns and carbon components to a drawing, this includes 5 axis machining and some self-inspection.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out machining operations as directed by the Supervision ensuring that all steps are taken to meet given deadlines and that machines are run at their optimum.
2. Communicate with TPP when solving problems during machining patterns/jigs/components and offer solutions that may further improve the quality or runtime of the job.
3. Proactively liaise with fellow machinists within the Department and other areas within the business to ensure best practice is established and utilized.
4. Carry out all possible inspection during the machining of any patterns, jigs, and components to ensure work presented to Inspection is right first time.
5. Ensure that all relevant Work Order and shop floor data is collected and is accurate.
6. Ensure communication to other shifts is thorough and accurate to achieve a smooth handover and minimize production time loss.
7. Communicate ideas and suggestions regarding more efficient/effective production to the Supervision/Management.
8. Ensure all tooling is built to correct specification and stored accordingly.
9. Follow all predefined information as set out in the Program job packs.
Requirements
We are looking for a Machinist with the following skills and experience:
1. Recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment.
2. Proficient in using 3 and 5 axis machine centres.
3. Knowledge of various materials and their properties.
4. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
5. Attention to detail and precision.
6. The ability to work well independently and be self-motivated, as well as work diligently with the pattern shop team.
