We have an exciting opportunity for Trust Grade Registrar Doctors within the ENT Speciality. This post is on a 12 month contract.
Ear, Nose and Throat surgery for the Leicester area is undertaken at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the ENT Department will be expanding into the new EMPCC Hub based at the Leicester General Hospital, which is due to open in December 2024.
Main duties of the job
The appointment is for a whole time (resident) Trust Grade Specialty Registrar Doctor in ENT – ST3-6 equivalent, providing training in all aspects of ENT. This is a 6 month post designed to develop skills at a level of ST3-6 Specialty Registrar.
You will work as a member of the ENT Team to provide a high quality service that aims to deliver excellent patient care. You will work alongside Consultants, Associate specialists, Doctors in training, and Advanced nursing colleagues to deliver elective and emergency services, consistent with the trust's strategy and values. A degree of independence in emergency assessment, decision making, and simple operating is expected. Over time, your position may evolve towards some independent practice.
Full support will be provided for CESR application for those who fulfill the criteria.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties of Post:
* Provide an outpatient service.
* Through peri-operative visits and ward rounds, provide high quality patient care.
* Participate in the emergency ENT on call service.
* Play a role in the clinical management of patients.
* Participate in operating lists.
* Participate in clinical audit & demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.
* Practice adequate handover of care.
* Ensure discharge summaries are completed, in anticipation of expected discharge, for all admissions.
* Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
* Actively participate in continuing medical education.
* Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
You will take part in a 1 in 7 on-call rota providing SpR level cover for the new Hub and supporting the emergency on call, supervising emergency cases, and ward patients during the working day, and be expected to help with the training and supervision of new junior doctors (F2 – ST2), as well as take part in Department meetings, research, and audit.

Training and Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice
* MRCS
Experience
* Completed core surgical training or equivalent
* Experience in management of ENT problems
Motivation
* Evidence of motivation for further training in ENT
Audit/Clinical Governance
* Evidence of completed audit
Management Ability
* Experience of minor management roles
Teaching and Training
* Evidence of a keen interest in teaching and training
