CAMHS Clinical Pathway Manager Infant/Early Help Pathway
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within Livewell Southwest has the opportunity to really shape Children Young People and Family Services.
The Clinical Pathway Manager role is an exciting role where you will lead on two areas of development using the Anna Freud iThrive framework to inform the pathway development. The two pathways are the Infant Mental Health Pathway (0- rising 5 years) and the Early Help Pathway (5-18 years). The role really enables you to focus on prevention and early intervention promoting the best outcomes for infants, children, young people and families.
As the Clinical Pathway Manager, you will be responsible for oversight in relation to line management of staff and appraisals. You will need to be passionate about developing accessible services and be able to be flexible in your approach to support the pathways and service development.

You will have an understanding of child and adolescent mental health and be passionate about early intervention. You must have experience of managing/developing a team, good communication skills, and the ability to work to time-restricted deadlines. As an Operational Manager, the Post Holder will be required to participate in the Operational Managers On-Call Rota, if requested to do so by the Chief Operating Officer.
Main Duties of the Job
The Infant Pathway focuses on parent-infant mental health, inclusive of early intervention prior to birth, direct work, and group intervention until the age of rising five years.
The Early Help Pathway focuses on school-aged children, delivering training, consultation, assessment, group work, and direct intervention until the age of 18 years. In this part of the role, you will work closely with the other Early Help Pathway Manager, with duties divided equally.
Improve children and young people's mental health through the effective delivery of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) providing safe, effective, timely, and accessible services that are responsive to the needs of local children, young people, and their families.
Case/Line management and appraisals of staff in line with policy.
Chairing regular team meetings and attending the Senior CAMHS Business meeting on a regular basis.
Monitoring and developing work streams, RTT, evaluation, and monitoring requirements.
Promote and embed national and local work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
Support the development ACCESS.
The Post holder will ensure professional engagement with partner agencies in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of effective multi-agency services.

Job Responsibilities
The Clinical Pathway Manager role will be responsible for oversight in relation to line management of staff appraisals. You will also be at the forefront for the development of the Access Health and Wellbeing as well as SEND, which is a single point of access for all referrals for specialist services working in collaboration with our partner agencies.
As one of the Clinical Pathway Managers, you will provide an element of specialist clinical practice to be agreed with the Service Manager, taking into consideration the level of management responsibility within this post as the post holder will have day-to-day management of one of the CAMHS Pathways.
You will work as part of the senior management team within CAMHS in conjunction with the wider CAMHS service and tier 4.
Person Specification
Experience
* At least three years experience in line management responsibility for one or more multi-disciplinary teams and where the team remit has included work with children, young people, and their families experiencing mental health problems.
* Post-qualifying experience of clinical assessment, evaluation, care planning, and risk management in work with those experiencing mental health problems.
* Experience of providing clinical supervision to professionals working with children and young people experiencing mental health problems.
* Culturally competent practice with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
* Clinical mental health assessment and formulation of children and young people (including children aged 0-5).
* Assessment and management of risk and an understanding of the escalation process.
* A range of therapeutic interventions relating to mental health and emotional well-being.
* Mentoring students including appraisal and the setting and review of objectives.
* Evidence of working to challenging timescales.
* Evidence of team building skills.
* Experience of integrated governance, risk management, and service improvement.
* Experience of working within safeguarding systems, e.g. Common Assessment Framework / Child Protection.
* Development of policies and procedures.
* Experience of dealing with contentious issues and drawing upon skills of clarification and negotiation for successful resolution.
* Experience of incorporating service user views into the provision and evaluation of services.
* Managing teams with challenges and clinical pressures which require prioritisation.
* Operational management of a team.
* Experience of using audit and analytical skills and implementing corrective action.
Qualifications
* Core Qualification such as Degree/Diploma in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy etc.
* Active registration with the relevant professional body.
* Professional qualification relevant to CAMHS.
* Post graduate qualification relevant to core qualification.
* Evidence of management or leadership development/specialist training.
* Recognised management qualification at Post Graduate level or experience of managing a clinical team.
Knowledge and Skills
* An understanding of the system of health, social care, education, and third sector for children and families.
* Understanding of quality and patient safety, health and safety legislation, local and national policy around safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
* Knowledge about risk assessment and how to support all staff members in assessing and managing risk.
* Understanding of performance management and the role this can play in the delivery of excellent and effective services.
* Knowledge of the range of therapeutic skills relevant to working with children and young people aged 0-19 and their families.
* Mental Health assessment skills.
* Good organisational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise.
* The ability to maintain working partnerships with other organisations in the delivery of integrated care.
* Well developed communication skills both oral and written.
* Able to reason, including the ability to analyse, interpret, evaluate and draw assumptions from data and information.
