Job description We are currently recruiting experienced part time support staff to work with Carol, a lady living in the Wishaw area of North Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced support worker looking to develop their already existing support skills and to be involved in helping Carol enjoy life and develop. A driver with full UK clean current driving license is essential for this post. " I am Carol and I am 26 years old. I am friendly, fun, clever with a wicked sense of humor. I have been told my determination is inspirational People who know and care about me say that I am always happy, have a beautiful smile and an infectious giggle. I love having the opportunity to explore new activities as I like living life to the full. I am a very sociable person and being involved in my community and having good relationships with other people the same age as me is very important to me. When I was one year old, I was diagnosed with a rare neuro-genetic condition. This has never stopped me from enjoying lots of different physical activities. I have tried many activities such as swimming, (hydrotherapy pool) dancing, trampolining, cycling, horse riding, wheelchair ice skating and ten-pin bowling. Some of these form a regular part of my week and others I dip into and out of as my mood takes me. I am supported with every aspect of daily living, to maintain my mobility and develop my independence. The 2:1 support I have is at certain points during the day enables me to transfer safety and to undertake exercise that is essential to maintaining my mobility, developing my strength and to aid my digestion and circulation. What I am looking for… Someone who is alert and switched on. Someone who is calm. Someone who is positive. Someone with a strong personality but not overwhelming. Someone with at least a years experience as a support worker Shifts are from 8am to 9pm or 10pm, contracts from 15-30 hours and a sleepover in addition to this You will be expected to be part of a weekend rota There will be the opportunity to do overtime during team holiday times. Main Tasks To provide person centred care and support to the people Support for Ordinary Living wor k for in line with the mission, vision and values of the organisation the support worker role will: Support an individual to live in their own home/ family home and help the individual live the lifestyle they choose. Assist with personal care for example bathing where applicable. Encourage and support people to make life choices. Support individual to safeguard their property/ health & wellbeing/ finances and tak e appropriate action, when necessary, e.g., call NHS 24 or Doctor in case of emergency. Support people to become a valued member of their local community and support an d encourage them to maintain and develop relationships with their friends, their family and their neighbours. Encourage and support people to get involved in social activities. Assist people with domestic tasks such as housework, shopping cooking and cleaning. Treat people with dignity and respect at all times and recognise their rights to make their own choices. Support the individual to meet their outcomes in line with their Outcome based support plan and plan for the future. To work as part as a Self-Directed team, working in a consistent and flexible manne r to support the individual to meet the outcomes outlined in the outcome-based support plan. Adhere to SOL’s policies and procedures to attend all planned meetings / training as requested. Be an ambassador to SOL, safeguarding the positive image and reputation o f the organisation.
